Prof Abubakar Muhammad Sani Birnin Kudu

Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has honoured a renowned Islamic scholar, Professor Abubakar Sani Birnin Kudu, for his outstanding contributions to educational development.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Birnin kudu branch of the NUT Alhaji Musa Muhammad, explained that, the event was aimed to show appreciation to some individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to educational activities in cash and in kind in the area.

He pointed out that, the local branch had facilitated the conduct of degree programme under the National Teachers Institute NTI as well as the establishment of college of education Gumel campus for NCE programme.

In his remark, the District Head of Birnin Kudu, Alhaji Husain Hassan Jibrin urged the NUT to put monitoring and inspection mechanisms to ensure that students attend classes regularly as part of the improved teaching and learning process.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government Council, Dr Builder Muhammad Uba who was represented by the Supervisory Councillor of Works Alhaji Haladu Maigari, reaffirmed his commitment to support the education sector.

Builder Muhammad Uba stressed the need for more stakeholder and community engagement for improved service delivery.

Also in his message to the occasion, the state Chairman of the NUT who was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Auwal Sabo commended the local chapter for honoring individuals and organizations that contributed to the cause of education.

He urged sister chapters to emulate the gesture to encourage more community engagement in uplifting educational activities.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Muryar Birnin Kudu Alhaji Ahmad Sa’id Kangire said the association will soon inaugurate a committee to oversee the disbursement of educational donation made to the association during its Annual general meeting as part of effort to institute community engagement to address some educational needs in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients of the award of honor, Professor Abubakar Muhammad Sani Birnin Kudu noted that there is no controversy in the motto of the NUT that “Teachers Are Great”.

” A teacher is central to shaping good characters and positive thinking in the minds of members of any society and prayer to Allah to give them more courage to serve the community ”

Radio Nigeria reports that others who were also honored by the NUT include former member Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency Engineer Magaji Da’u Aliyu, former chairmen Alhaji Khalid Ibrahim and Alhaji Magaji Yusuf Gigo.

Others were incumbent Chairman, Dr Builder Muhammad Uba, former member Birnin Kudu Constituency in the House of Assembly Engineer Sirajo Muhammad Kantoga, Alyateem and Baraya Foundations, Hajia Umma Abdulkadir Fanini and former Permanent Secretary Hajia Uwani Jafaru.

Former Governor Sule Lamido was represented by the Village Head of Babaldu Alhaji Usman Lamido.
