Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports claiming that Governor Dauda Lawal has written to the party seeking to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party said it came across a fabricated report allegedly circulating from Tambarin Gusau, which falsely claimed that the governor had submitted a defection letter to the APC.
In a statement issued by the APC Publicity Secretary in Zamfara State, Yusuf Idris Gusau, the party described the report as malicious, unfounded, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
According to the statement, the APC operates through established and responsible channels where party affairs are handled in a guided and transparent manner, noting that no such letter was received from Governor Lawal.
“The party has not received any letter from Governor Dauda Lawal as claimed, nor is the APC aware of any move by the governor to defect from the PDP to the APC,” the statement said.
The party further cautioned against the spread of false information capable of causing unnecessary tension, stressing that, the APC remains a stable and peaceful political party in Zamfara State.
The APC therefore urged its members and the general public, particularly residents of Zamfara State, to disregard the report in its entirety.
