The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has taken strict disciplinary measures at selected primary healthcare centers (PHCs) in Madobi Local Government Area following an unscheduled supervisory visit by the Board’s Director General, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim.

A temporary staff member at Kafin Agur PHC has been relieved of duty for misconduct, while the Head of Department of Health and relevant staff at Burji PHC have been instructed to report to the KSPHCMB headquarters for administrative review.
The inspections covered Halliru Akilu PHC, Burji PHC, and Kafin Agur PHC, and revealed significant operational gaps.
According to a statement by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Sa’adatu Sulaiman, Professor Ibrahim observed at Halliru Akilu PHC the absence of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) staff on duty, inadequate readiness for essential services such as maternal and casualty care, poor environmental hygiene, and weak record-keeping.
At Burji PHC, staff were absent as late as 9:15 a.m., and the facility’s hygiene standards were generally poor. Kafin Agur PHC, despite being one of the larger facilities in the area, recorded low client turnout and unsatisfactory cleanliness, raising concerns about service utilization and management.
Professor Ibrahim directed immediate remedial actions and summoned all Zonal Directors for an emergency meeting to review supervision outcomes and enforce compliance with operational standards.
He also announced plans for a community engagement meeting involving the Chairman of Madobi LGA, Ward Development Committees (WDCs), and the Madobi Development Association, aimed at improving community participation, ownership, and accountability in healthcare service delivery.
The KSPHCMB reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on negligence, emphasizing its commitment to providing functional, clean, and people-centered PHC services across Kano State.
