National Assembly has directed its Clerk to regazette the nation’s tax laws passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives, following allegations of alterations to the laws.

In a statement by the House of Representatives spokesman, Akin Rotimi, the leadership of the lower and upper cavers directed the Clerk of the National Assembly to issue Certified True Copies of the versions for public cosumption.

The decision was part of response to reportby a lawmaker from Sokoto State, Abdussamad Dasuki, during plenary alledging that the tax reform Acts passed by the parliament differed from copies available at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

Dasuki who raised the alarm warned that the alleged alterations posed serious legal and constitutional risks, noting that they were not backed by any constitutional framework and could threaten Nigeria’s democratic order.

The matter which recieved much concern from Speaker of the House, Dr Abbas Tajuddeen, led to the constitution of a seven-member ad hoc committee chaired by Muktar Betara from Borno state to nvestigate the allegations and report back to the House for further legislative action.

The statement focused on the legislative process relating to the passage, presidential assent, and publication in the Official Gazette of the Federal Government by the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025, the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025; the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2025 and the Nigeria Revenue Service Act.
