The Nigerian Airforce says it is intensifying efforts to fast-track the acquisition of Twenty-four new aircraft and UAVs to strengthen its operational efficiency.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke disclosed this during a Christmas luncheon with troops of Air Component, Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 1, held at the NAF base in Kaduna State.

Air Marshal Sunday Aneke explained that the move was in line with his command philosophy, aimed at enhancing and sustaining a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready force capable of delivering airpower effects in synergy with surface forces for the realisation of national security objectives.
Represented by Air Vice Marshal Alfred Shogbanmu, the Air Chief acknowledged that while kinetic action alone was not enough, President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda provides a viable framework for addressing the root causes of insurgency and terrorism.

He pointed out that by focusing on social justice, economic empowerment and equitable development, the agenda complemented their non-kinetic efforts and laid a foundation for lasting peace and security across the country.
Air Marshal Sunday Aneke commended the troops for their commitment and sacrifices, especially at this special time of the year, describing them as pride of the nation.

He assured them of continuos support and recognition, stressing that their sacrifices would not go unrewarded.
“Your resilience, sacrifice and bravery in the line of duty have made it possible for millions of Nigerians to enjoy this season in peace and tranquility”
According to Air Marshal Aneke, the event was also an avenue to remember fallen heroes, who have paid the supreme price in the service to fatherland, while also praying for the continued peaceful repose of their souls.
Earlier in his welcome address, Air Component Commander, Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 1, Air Commodore Okechukwu Okpara noted that the component has continued to perform critical roles in providing the much-needed air support for the effective conduct of ground operations by the land component in the North-west theatre.
He assured that the component shall remain committed to sustaining the momentum of operations to confront armed bandits, insurgents and other criminal elements, until peace and normalcy are fully restored.
