The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has commended the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda for executing impactful developmental projects under the Katsina State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (KT-CARES) programme.
The traditional ruler made the commendation during an exclusive interview with officials of Nigeria CARES (NG-CARES), who were in Katsina State from Abuja to inspect projects executed by the State KT-CARES Office and to interact with stakeholders, beneficiaries, and traditional leaders.
Speaking on the achievements recorded in Ketare District, the Kanwan Katsina noted that the area has benefitted significantly from the KT-CARES programme, particularly through the construction of Community Day Secondary Schools in Wawal Kaza and Ganzamawa. He explained that the schools serve several surrounding communities and have contributed greatly to reducing the number of out-of-school children in the district.
He emphasized the critical role of traditional rulers in sensitizing communities on the importance of girl-child education and community-driven development, noting that with secondary education, many girls can be trained as nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals.
The Kanwan Katsina further explained that traditional institutions also support development efforts by ensuring the availability of land for project execution within their respective communities.
He recalled that KT-CARES is a World Bank-supported programme with counterpart funding from the Katsina State Government, providing interventions in education, health, water supply, nutrition, erosion control, and other critical sectors.
He commended Governor Radda for the timely release of counterpart funds, which he said has ensured the sustainability and successful implementation of the programme across the state, and urged the governor to sustain the momentum for the benefit of more communities in Katsina State.
