Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has inaugurated a 14.3 kilometer Daura Western Bypass which will be constructed at the contract sum of N19 billion, targeted at easing vehicular movement within Daura metropolis and decongestion of its township roads.

At a ceremony in Daura, the governor noted that the road which is part of the state government’s Urban Renewal project would promote socio-economic growth, enhance security, and alleviate traffic congestion.

“This project demonstrates our commitment to equitable development across Katsina State. Daura deserves modern infrastructure that matches its historical importance,” the governor said noting that the project will be completed within one year.

Earlier, the state Commissioner of Works, Alhaji Sani Magaji-Ingawa, announced that the project includes an 11.3 kilometer road linking Dunu Village to Ganga and Dumurkol and a three-kilometer dual carriage way to the Daura Emir’s Palace.

In a remark, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, commended the state government for embarking on the project , but raised alarm over how a section of the Daura ancient city wall was demolished during the ongoing construction of the federal road from Kano to Kongolam.

The governor promised to wade into the matter and assured those whose property will be affected by the construction of the Daura western bypass of timely and adequate payment of compensation.

In a related development, Governor Radda has launched the construction of Kankia township roads as part of efforts to ease transportation challenges within the town and enhance mobility for residents, traders and commuters.
