The vice chancellor, University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole says the institution has been able to achieve the purpose of it’s establishment in the last fifty years through research and innovation.

Professor Egbewole state this while delivering his speech at a news conference as part of the activities marking the 50th anniversary of the University,at the institution Auditorium in Ilorin.

He said since the creation of the university in 1975 it has become a great citedal of learning through resilience and hard work of the founding fathers.

According to him the university has become one of the best among it’s peers, which gave it the level of acceptability it receives from the committee of university globally.

Professor Egbewole explained that the the university has been able to improve in it Innovation to enable it impact positively in research teaching and learning.

On the issue insecurity ,the vice chancellor urged the American government to shun the intention of invading the country.

He said the support required is to assist the country with intelligence and weapons to overcome the security challenges bedeviling it.

The vice chancellor advised Nigerians to shun radical extremism and joined hand to save the country from security challenges.

He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the support extended to the university to enable it attained the present level of development.

Professor Egbewole also commended the University community, security agencies , students and management of the institution for contributing their quota towards better growth and development of the Institution.
