His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Muslims across the country to begin the search for the new moon of Jumada Assani tomorrow, Thursday, the 29th of Jumada Ula 1447 AH, equivalent to 20 November 2025.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, the Sultan urged that any sighting of the moon should be reported immediately to the nearest village or district head for onward transmission to the Sultanate Council.
The statement noted that the monthly moon observation helps to accurately determine the Islamic calendar each year, thereby enhancing the acceptance and credibility of Ramadan moon sightings among Muslims nationwide.
