At least 30,000 women in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have been earmarked to benefit from the Nigeria for Women Programme–Scale Up (NFWP-SU) project to boost their economic status .

The State Project Coordinator, Hajiya Medinat Idris, stated this during an engagement with stakeholders of Ifelodun Local Government, held at the Secretariat in Share.

She said the initiative targets women in semi-urban and rural communities aged 18 years and above who own micro or nano businesses .

According to her the project is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, which has been successfully implemented in six states across Nigeria.

Hajiya Medinat explained that the programme has been expanded to about 32 states, including Kwara State, adding that at the Local Government level, a Local Government Project Implementation Unit will be recruited to help achieve the Project Development Objectives (PDOs).END
