The Southern Kaduna Leadership Council, SKLC, has passed a vote of confidence on its executive led by General Zamani Lekwot (rtd), Elder Dare Akau, and Senator Azeez Zego.
The resolution was reached during the council’s 19th quarterly meeting held in Kafanchan.
The motion, moved by former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Mr. Andy Yakubu, and seconded by Rear Admiral Ferguson Bobai (rtd), was unanimously adopted by members who commended the executive for what they described as credible and visionary leadership that has projected the council to global recognition.
In his remarks, the Agwom Akulu, His Highness Sunday Bature Likoro, urged the leadership to sustain its tempo, while commending its unwavering commitment to the growth of the council and the development of Southern Kaduna.
Responding on behalf of the executive, Secretary of the Council, Mr. Timothy Gandu, alongside Chairman Elder Dare Akau and Co-chairman Senator Azeez Zego, appreciated the confidence reposed in them and pledged to justify the trust through continued service and accountability.
The meeting also emphasized the need for massive voter registration and mobilization across the Southern Kaduna zone, urging all stakeholders to ensure full coverage.
In a related development, the Council inaugurated the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, Comrade Jerry Adams, as Chairman of the Finance Committee for the forthcoming Southern Kaduna Festival, SKFEST.
He will be assisted by Larai Sylvia Ishaku, Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area, who will serve as Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Mr. Wilson Iliya Yangye, Mr. Kabir Kasim, Mr. Christopher Haruna, and Mr. Danjuma Kai, among others.
The meeting was attended by several top government officials led by the Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Henry Danjuma Magaji, who disclosed that Governor Uba Sani had secured federal approval for a special intervention on the reconstruction of the Jere–Kagarko–Jaba–Kwoi–Kafanchan road.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Mr. Ado Dogo Audu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, the Chairmen of Kachia and Jema’a Local Government Areas, Dr. Daniel Manzo Maigari and Mr. Peter Tanko, as well as the Commissioner for Sports, Professor Ben Gugong among others.
