Kaduna, Oct. 24, 2025 (NAN) The Trade Union Congress (TUC), Kaduna State Council, has commended Governor Uba Sani for approving a new minimum wage of ₦72,000 for local government workers in the state.

The Chairman of the TUC and Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Kaduna State Council, Abdullahi Danfulani, made the commendation during a press briefing in Kaduna.

Danfulani said the gesture was long overdue and described it as a significant step toward bridging the wage disparity between state and local government workers.

“We at the state level have been enjoying a ₦72,000 minimum wage, while our counterparts in the local governments have been stuck at ₦30,000.

They have written several letters and even embarked on strikes, yet the issue remained unresolved until His Excellency graciously approved the new wage yesterday,” he said.

The TUC chairman expressed appreciation to Governor Sani for his “listening ear” and urged members of the union to remain patient as the ongoing verification exercise in the state progresses.

He explained that the verification was necessary to ensure transparency and fairness in the implementation of the consequential adjustments for all categories of workers.

“We believe that when the verification is completed, His Excellency will extend the benefit of consequential adjustment to all workers across the state.

The governor is the father of all workers not just those at the state level,” Danfulani said.

He called on workers to continue supporting the government’s efforts and remain calm while the labor leadership continues to advocate for their rights and welfare.

“We are still in the struggle for better working conditions for every worker in Kaduna State whether at the state, local government, or primary school level. We urge all members to be patient and cooperative,” he added.

Danfulani also reiterated the labor movement’s principle that “an injury to one is an injury to all,” emphasizing the importance of solidarity among all categories of workers.
