Kano State Government has assured members of the Forum of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Special Assistants (SAs), and Personal Assistants (PAs) who served under the previous administration that their request for the payment of severance benefits will be given due consideration.

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made the pledge while receiving members of the forum in his office.

Comrade Waiya emphasized that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to fairness, justice, and accountability, stressing that all legitimate entitlements will be settled based on merit, and not political affiliation or defection to the ruling party.

He described Governor Yusuf as “a visionary and compassionate leader” who prioritizes the welfare of all citizens and public servants irrespective of political differences.

The Commissioner cited the payment of over ₦27 billion out of ₦48 billion in outstanding gratuities to retired civil servants and the recent settlement of severance benefits for former Councillors as clear evidence of the Governor’s fairness and commitment to equity.

Earlier, the Chairman of the SSA, SA, and PA Forum, Alhaji Gidado Ahmad Satatima, said the purpose of their visit was to formally appeal for the payment of their severance allowances, in line with the gesture extended to former Councillors.

He expressed appreciation to Comrade Waiya for his continuous support and mediation efforts between the forum and the State Government, describing him as “a humble, accessible, and dedicated public servant committed to promoting harmony between government officials and stakeholders.”

The forum presented a formal request letter to the Commissioner for onward transmission to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for consideration.
