The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB), in collaboration with the Legislative Initiative for Sustainable Development (LISDEL) and EngenderHealth, has convened a two-day workshop aimed at developing a Primary Health Care (PHC) Investment-Specific Accountability Framework to enhance sustainable PHC financing in the state.

Held in Zaria, Kaduna State, the workshop brought together key stakeholders from across the health and financial sectors to strengthen accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the management of PHC resources.

Declaring the workshop open, the Director General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, described the initiative as a major step forward in promoting sustainable primary health care delivery through transparency and responsible financing.

He commended the collaborative efforts of partners, emphasizing that Kano State continues to lead reforms in the health sector through innovation, data-driven planning, and evidence-based decision-making.

Key objectives of the workshop include,Comprehensive Budget Review,Indicator Finalization as well as Scorecard and Dashboard Development.

Participants engaged in technical sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises focused on strengthening their capacity to track financial flows, enforce fiscal discipline, and ensure accountability across the PHC system.

At the end of the workshop, the stakeholders produced a robust and practical accountability framework that will serve as a model for other states, supporting Nigeria’s efforts toward sustainable, transparent, and equitable primary health care financing.
