Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has flagged off the construction of the Babban Sara–Malam Bako–Shabaru–Kirgi–Albasu feeder road valued at ₦4.47 billion.

In a statement in Dutse by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, the 28.2-kilometre road project is designed to connect more than 60 communities in Sule Tankarkar LGA and boost socio-economic activities in the region.

The flag-off was part of the 23rd edition of the Citizens Engagement Programme, known as Gwamnati Da Jama’a, aimed at strengthening accountability and grassroots participation in governance.

During the visit, Governor Namadi also commissioned several completed projects, including a new primary healthcare centre, a modern Tsangaya model school under the state’s Almajiri education reform, and a water supply facility.

He said the Citizens Engagement Programme allows government officials to present their achievements, receive citizens’ feedback, and collect inputs for future budgets.

According to the Governor, governance must always focus on service to the people, empowerment, and transparency.

Governor Namadi thanked the people of Jigawa for their continued support and pledged to sustain efforts toward improving living standards across all communities.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing reforms that empower states and local governments, announcing that Jigawa has been selected among six pilot states for the revived National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme.

The Governor reaffirmed Jigawa’s support for President Tinubu, expressing confidence that the ongoing reforms will strengthen the economy and improve lives.

The statement also says the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, who attended the event, described the Citizens Engagement Programme as a model of participatory governance that should be replicated nationwide.

He praised Governor Namadi for promoting transparency and inclusive development, noting that the initiative brings government closer to the people.

Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, also commended the Governor’s achievements, describing them as transformative and people-focused.

She reaffirmed Jigawa’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, assuring President Tinubu of the state’s unwavering support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The statement notes that the event is part of Governor Namadi’s ongoing tour to showcase achievements, strengthen community ties, and reaffirm his administration’s commitment to people-centred development.
