The Federal Government has announced plans to create at least 20,000 new jobs every year through the launch of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) 2.0, aimed at connecting young graduates with work experience, training, and mentorship opportunities.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to flag off the initiative and declare open a High-Level Policy Dialogue on Job Creation on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The event, themed “From Skills to Jobs and Enterprises: Driving Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship in Key Economic Sectors,” will bring together government officials, private sector leaders, and development partners to develop strategies for youth employment and enterprise growth.

Ahead of the launch, the Vice President inaugurated the NJFP 2.0 Steering Committee, urging members to ensure inclusivity, transparency, and measurable results.

He said the programme reflects President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes job creation, skills development, and youth empowerment.

Shettima described the NJFP as a deliberate effort to transform Nigeria’s demographic advantage into economic strength, emphasizing that structured partnerships and purposeful leadership enable young Nigerians to excel.

Implemented by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the European Union (EU), the NJFP has empowered over 14,000 youths since 2022 through year-long paid fellowships that build career experience and confidence.

Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, revealed that NJFP 2.0 will engage at least 24,000 fellows within the next 10 months, with EU support, offering two pathways, job placement and entrepreneurship development.

UNDP Resident Representative Elsie Attafuah and EU Ambassador Gautier Mignot commended the initiative, describing it as a step toward building a sustainable job creation ecosystem and reaffirming continued support for Nigeria’s youth empowerment agenda.
