Senator representing Bayelsa West Senator Seriaki Dickson has reaffirmed his position in the People Democratic Party despite the defection of his governor from PDP to the ruling APC.

Senator Dickson reacted to Governor Diri’s defection after Senate’s plenary but supported the nomination of Professor Joash Amupitan as the new Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC).

He said President Tinubu has made a very good choice, and he will fully support confirmation of his appointment anytime the Senate screens him .

Dickson assured to cast his vote to show his full support to the presidential nominee , saying as a member of the Electoral Committee,

He also said that as a member of the Senate will work with colleagues to ensure that the electoral reforms being championed see the light of day, and that Professor Amupitan is confirmed as the Chairman of INEC.

The lawmaker said they expect the nominee, as a professor of law and a senior advocate of Nigeria, the first senior advocate to be so nominated, to understand his place in history

According to him, Nigeria , being a plural society , deserves functional and vibrant multiparty democracy and not one party, one which breeds dictatorship and authoritarianism.
