The Sardaunan Ikulu, Alhaji Dr. Isma’il Yusuf Ashafa, has urged women and youths in the chiefdom to actively participate in politics to help bring development to the area.

Dr. Ashafa made these remarks during the Ikulu Summit held in Kaduna, organized by the Ikulu Political Forum (IPF). He emphasized that no society can prosper without unity among its people and the active engagement of youths and women in political activities.

He further advised that youths and women must be properly sensitized, educated, and mobilized about the importance of leadership through party politics. He also called on politicians in Ikulu land to steer clear of “do or die” politics, for the growth and development of the area.

According to him, patriotism, love for one another, and a passion for peace should be the hallmark of the people in the chiefdom.

In a related remark, the National President of Ikulu Development Association (IDA), Mr. Bature S. Likoro, emphasized the importance of peace and unity in Ikulu land, and urged leaders to focus more on the development of youths and women.

Also speaking, the Sarauniyar Ikulu, Mrs. Lorentia Bature, stated that when women withdraw or distance themselves from politics, society will fail to progress. She praised Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his developmental efforts, and also commended Sardaunan Ikulu, Dr. Isma’il Yusuf Ashafa, for supporting his people.

Comrade Moses Obadiah, Chairman of the Summit Planning Committee, warned politicians in the chiefdom to avoid religious politics, ethnic divisions, and sectionalism, which hinder unity and development. He noted that the Ikulu Youths Political Forum had created synergies with all political parties to promote peaceful democracy.

The Chairman of the Ikulu Youths Political Forum, Mr. Mathew Makama, described Ikulu land as peaceful, with people of high integrity who value unity and sincerity of purpose. He emphasized that peace is a prerequisite for social development and must be encouraged in the domain.

A woman leader, Mrs. Martina Sunday, encouraged women in the area to engage in legitimate trades and other activities for self-reliance. She also commended the Ikulu Youths Political Forum for promoting peace and unity.

Honourable Justina Joseph Usman, Councillor of Ikulu Ward, Zangon Kataf Local Government, praised Governor Uba Sani for his efforts to unite people across differences, and expressed optimism that the Summit would bring more development and unity to the people.

Mr. Destiny Madaki, an official of the Ikulu Political Forum, said the gathering was intended to bring together the sons and daughters of Ikulu for meaningful development.

Mrs. Assabaru Yaro, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ikulu Development Association, urged women to remain united and supportive, and called on youths to embody peace, tolerance, and understanding to uplift their area.
