In commemoration of this year’s World Teachers’ Day, the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB) has hosted the maiden edition of its Best Teacher Award ceremony, held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Hotel Seventeen, Kaduna.

The event, graced by the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, alongside dignitaries including the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hajiya Aisha Garba, the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo, and the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, celebrated excellence and innovation in basic education.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Chairman of KADSUBEB, Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed, described the award as a defining moment for education in the state, recognising teachers as the “engine that drives human potential and fuels societal change.”

He explained that the selection process was transparent and rigorous, with nominees drawn from all 23 Local Government Areas, screened and assessed through lesson observations, interviews, and evaluations by an independent panel involving institutions such as TRCN, KADBEAM, KSSQAA, the State NUT, and the Ministry of Education.

“This award is a reminder that while a teacher’s reward is often said to be in heaven, it must also begin here on earth. We are committed to recognising excellence and motivating professionalism,” Mohammed stated.

Partners including Zenith Bank, UNICEF, SCI, PLANE, ROOSC, Nigerian Breweries, and others supported the initiative, which saw teachers celebrated for their dedication, leadership, and contribution to improved learning outcomes in Kaduna State.

Award winners were applauded as role models for the teaching profession, while nominees were also hailed as champions of education whose efforts represent the strength and promise of the state’s schools.
