Teachers in Kaduna State may down tools as the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kaduna State Wing, has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the state government over the non-implementation of the new national minimum wage for primary school teachers.

In a joint statement signed by State NUT Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Dalhatu, and Secretary, Comrade Adamu Ayuba Kaltungo, the union expressed disappointment that despite an agreement reached with the government in December 2024 and fresh assurances in September 2025, teachers’ September salaries showed no sign of the promised ₦72,000 minimum wage or its consequential adjustments.

The union stressed that all government-requested verification exercises had long been completed, leaving no justification for withholding teachers’ entitlements.

“If the government fails to honour the agreement within the ultimatum period, teachers will have no choice but to embark on an indefinite strike,” the statement warned.
