A coalition of APC support groups in Jigawa State has condemned the actions of the party’s National Financial Secretary, Alhaji Bashir Usman Gumel, describing his conduct as divisive and a threat to party unity.
Addressing a press briefing in Jigawa, the coalition accused Gumel of attending an unauthorized political gathering in Kafin-Hausa Town on August 31, 2025.
The event, which was organized under the pretext of honouring one Zakari Kafin-Hausa, was alleged to have been infiltrated by opposition elements.
According to the coalition, inflammatory and derogatory remarks were made against Governor Umar Namadi and the APC leadership in the state during the gathering.
They further alleged that Gumel pledged allegiance to an individual rather than the APC, provoking unrest that led to injuries and destruction of property.
The groups contrasted this with Governor Namadi’s grassroots outreach programme in Kaugama Local Government the same day, which they said reflected the APC’s true commitment to citizens’ welfare.
Citing Article 21 of the APC Constitution, the coalition accused Gumel of engaging in acts that brought the party into disrepute, disobeyed lawful directives, and promoted factionalism.
The coalition demanded that the national leadership of the APC launch an immediate investigation into Gumel’s actions.
They also called for appropriate disciplinary measures to be taken, insisting that such behavior is unbecoming of a national officer.
The groups maintained that discipline and loyalty must be reinforced within the APC to safeguard party unity.
They stressed that the supremacy of party structures and leadership, especially at the state level, must not be undermined.
According to the coalition, the incident embarrassed the APC and threatened its cohesion in Jigawa State.
They declared full support for Governor Umar Namadi, commending his developmental strides and inclusive style of governance.
The coalition urged the national leadership of the APC to act swiftly in the interest of peace, justice, and party supremacy.
Signed by the Chairman of the Coalition, Engineer Sa’idu Ibrahim Uba, the groups pledged continued loyalty to the party at all levels.
