A two-day training for media practitioners on ethical journalism and child rights reporting is underway in Kano.

The training aims to strengthen understanding of the legal and ethical framework guiding the reporting of children in Nigeria, including the Child Rights Act and international conventions.

Declaring the workshop open, the UNICEF Representative in the Kano Field Office, Mr. Mahamud Rahama Muhammad, said the training is a collaboration between UNICEF and the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

He added that the participants were drawn from states in the Northwest and North Central regions, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with a view to developing modalities that would help reduce child molestation and abuse.
