National Population Commission-NPC says it is determined to ensure that every Nigerian is counted without omission or duplication in the upcoming population and housing census.

Federal Commissioner representing Kaduna State at the Commission, Hajiya Sa’adatu Garba Dogonbauchi gave the assurance at a town hall meeting in continuation of her state-wide sensitization visit across the State, held in Birnin Gwari Local Government area, Kaduna State.

Hajiya Sa’adatu Garba Dogonbauchi noted that available records indicate that birth registration in Birnin Gwari was very low, largely due to poor awareness, hence the need for the visit.

According to her, in addition to conducting census, other statutory responsibilities of the Commission include civil registration and vital statistics which covers registration of births, deaths, marriages, divorces and migration.

The Federal Commissioner assured that Staff of the NPC Kaduna office are fully prepared and committed to delivering credible census, whenever the proclamation is made.

Hajiya Sa’adatu Dogonbauchi therefore solicited for the support of stakeholders in Birnin Gwari LGA for the successful conduct of the exercise.

In his remarks, Executive Chairman of Birnin Gwari LGA, Salisu Isa Karama assured the Federal Commissioner of maximum support during the census exercise and pledged to improve birth registration.
