Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity and Development Initiative has described the inauguration of Standing Committees and Interim State Coordinators as a new milestone in strengthening the foundation of the Initiative.

The Director-General of the Initiative, Dr. Abdullahi Idris made the remark in Kaduna during the inauguration ceremony held at Arewa House, Kaduna.

The organs inaugurated include the Planning and Strategy Committee, the Finance Committee, the Media and Publicity Committee, as well as the Interim State Coordinators.

Dr. Abdullahi Idris explained that the structures represent critical pillars that will drive the vision of peace, unity, and inclusive development across Northern Nigeria.

Highlighting their roles, the Director-General noted that the Planning and Strategy Committee will be responsible for designing action frameworks, prioritizing projects, and identifying partners to advance the mission of the Initiative.

On the Finance Committee, he emphasized the need for resource mobilization, prudent utilization of funds, and strict accountability.

Dr. Abdullahi Idris maintained that financial sustainability and discipline will determine the long-term success of the Initiative.

He also underscored the role of the Media and Publicity Committee, describing it as the voice and image of the Initiative.

According to him, the committee is expected to project the Initiative positively, counter misinformation, and establish a strong presence on traditional and social media platforms, thereby making Arewa Cohesion a household name.

Turning to the grassroots, the Director-General highlighted the importance of Interim State Coordinators, who he said will take the vision of the Initiative into every state, local government, and ward.

He explained that their responsibilities include mobilizing membership, building inclusive structures, and ensuring that women, youth, the elderly, and persons with disabilities are fully represented in state chapters.

He further revealed that the appointments of the Interim State Coordinators are for a 12-month probationary period, after which their performance and commitment will determine confirmation.

While inaugurating the Committees and Coordinators, Dr. Idris reminded them that their selection was based on competence, integrity, and dedication, not by chance.

He urged them to carry out their duties with diligence, humility, and responsibility, stressing that much of the success of the Initiative rests on their performance.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Bature Umar Masari, described the inauguration as a significant step in strengthening the structure of the organization.

He said the committees and coordinators constitute the backbone of the Initiative’s work and are expected to translate vision into action and sustain its credibility.

He tasked them to encourage good governance, enhance citizens’ political participation, and embark on enlightenment campaigns to sensitize people to their basic rights.

The Chairman commended the leadership of the Initiative for its foresight and dedication.

He congratulated the appointees, reminding them that their responsibilities are not privileges but calls to service and urged them to carry out their duties with integrity, discipline, and humility, expressing confidence that the Initiative will grow into a strong force for unity, peace, and development not only in the North but in Nigeria as a whole.
