In a bid to promote a healthy environment and safeguard children from diseases, the Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children, and Disabled, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani led a comprehensive sanitation exercise at the Nassarawa Children’s Home.

The Commissioner, alongside Ministry Staff and Children from the home, participated in the cleanup exercise, which covered every part of the facility.

She stressed that the initiative was part of the ministry’s ongoing commitment to the welfare and well-being of children in government care.

Hajiya Amina disclosed that the sanitation exercise would henceforth be conducted regularly to maintain hygiene standards and prevent the spread of diseases.

During the visit, the commissioner also inspected ministry-owned shops attached to the home that are rented out.

She, however, expressed concern over illegal structures erected by some tenants, who encroached on the home’s land without authorization.

According to her, the structures obstruct free movement within the compound and pose a potential security risk to the children.

She immediately invited the Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KANUPDA) to assess the encroachment and take appropriate action.

The commissioner cautioned tenants against breaching government trust, warning that such “ungodly behavior” would not be condoned.

She reaffirmed the ministry’s resolve to protect children’s welfare and hold violators accountable.

“The ministry remains committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for the children while ensuring government property is fully protected,”
