Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu has inspected the electric buses being manufactured for the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Hefei, China.

Accompanied by NEDC Managing Director Mohammed G. Alkali, senior officials, and board members, the Minister toured Ankai’s advanced production facilities, reviewing assembly processes and verifying quality standards.

The team also confirmed shipping schedules to ensure timely delivery.

“This partnership is delivering real change, not just promises,” the Minister declared, highlighting that the deal is a blend of innovation, sustainability, and strategic international cooperation.

The NEDC’s e-bus initiative is more than a transport project — it’s an economic boost for the North East.

The deployment will create new jobs in operations, maintenance, and charging infrastructure, while cutting dependency on costly fossil fuels.

The buses are also expected to reshape urban mobility, making daily commutes more affordable and accessible, especially for workers, students, and small business owners.

Officials say this project underscores Nigeria’s ability to tap into global expertise to solve local challenges — and sets a precedent for more green technology partnerships in the future.
