Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has empowered no fewer than 500 youth and women entrepreneurs across the eight local government areas of Kaduna South Senatorial District.

At the distribution ceremony in Zonkwa, the beneficiaries received refrigerators, generators, and industrial sewing machines to support and expand their small-scale businesses.

The intervention was made possible through the senator’s partnership with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization, NCAM, and was supervised by the Director General of the defunct SMK 2023 campaign organisation, Barrister Simon Arabo, who represented the senator.

Speaking on behalf of Senator Katung, Barrister Simon Arabo said the initiative was targeted at existing entrepreneurs who needed essential tools to grow their businesses.

“This selection process was deliberately non partisan to ensure fairness and inclusivity, and beneficiaries should make judicious use of the items and, in turn, impact others in their communities”,he said.

Chairman of the Distribution Committee and former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr. Gideon Lukas Gwani, commended the senator for prioritising youth and women empowerment.

Mr. Gideon Gwani stressed that the transparent and fair process has ensured that only genuine entrepreneurs, regardless of political affiliation, benefitted from the intervention.

Some beneficiaries, including Hajiya Maimuna Adamu from Jema’a LGA and Mohammed Zakaria from Kachia LGA, expressed appreciation, explaining that the industrial sewing machine will greatly enhance their tailoring business and open doors for bigger contracts.

They prayed for the senator’s continued success, describing his interventions as life changing for communities across the senatorial district.
