Jigawa state government has released over 156 million Naira for the return tickets of 184 Jigawa students studying medical and applied medical courses in the Near East University in Cyprus.

The Executive Secretary of the state Scholarship Board, Alhaji Sa’idu Magaji disclosed this to newsmen in Dutse.

According to him, the first batch of 31 female students who were in Nigeria for a holiday after spending two academic sessions as part of the state government policy were airlifted from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Lagos to Istanbul for the commencement of the new academic session.

The Executive Secretary who escorted the first batch of the students commended the passion and concern of Governor Umar Namadi towards supporting the indigenes of the state to further their education for the benefit of the state.

He also commended the tireless efforts of the state Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology Professor Isa Yusuf Chamo for ensuring the successful sponsorship of over 184 Jigawa state indigenes to further their studies abroad by the state government.

Radio Nigeria reports that, 184 medical and applied medical courses Jigawa state students who are currently undergoing courses in the Near East University Cyprus arrived Jigawa for a holiday after spending two academic session in the university as part of the present administration’s pledge to bring them back for a holiday after every two academic sessions.
