President Bola Tinubu has nominated Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Also nominated are Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President urged the nominees to bring their expertise to bear in helping to actualize his administration’s power sector vision.

Onanuga noted that all the nominations are subject to Senate confirmation.

However, to avoid a leadership vacuum at the regulatory agency, President Tinubu has directed Engr. Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity, pending his screening by the Senate, in line with legal provisions.

Engr. Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer and administrator with a PhD in Strategic Management.
