Jigawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting residents from flooding, in response to predictions by the National Meteorological Agency NiMet.

Vice Chairman of the State Technical Committee on Flood Mitigation, Alhaji Hamza Muhammad Hadejia, gave the assurance during an inspection of river embankments along the Auyo, Tsidir, Agin, Matsa, Sorakin, Jiyan, Tage, Turabu, and Tandanu river basins.

According to him, since the inception of the present administration in the state, Governor Umar Namadi has taken proactive measures to protect people against flood mitigation to avert loss of lives and property as well as improve farming and job opportunities among rural populace.

Alhaji Hamza Muhammad Hadejia further explained that, serious measures was taken by the technical committee on flood mitigation on river desilt and embankment across local government areas with expectations of flooding as predicted for solution to the problems.

He urged people of the state to continue to support government policies to achieve the desired objectives.

Hadejia, commended Governor Umar Namadi for the support and cooperation given to the committee to discharge its duties effectively.

In their remarks, the village head of Turabu, Malam Shu’aibu Saje, chairman community development, commended Governor Umar Namadi, the council chairman and Special adviser Hamza Hadejia for their efforts to avert flooding In the state.
