Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed a fatal road accident that claimed nine lives in the early hours of Saturday, in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area.

The crash occurred around 2:00 am and involved two Golf 3 vehicles traveling in opposite directions.

According to preliminary investigations, one of the vehicles was en route from Abuja to Gujungu town, while the other was heading from Hadejia to Kano.

Both cars collided head-on, resulting in a devastating crash that killed nine people, including both drivers, and left several others injured.

Police from the Motor Traffic Department promptly responded to the scene and evacuated the injured to Ringim General Hospital.

A post-mortem was conducted, and the bodies of the deceased were released to their families for burial, while Eleven victims remain hospitalized and are reportedly responding well to treatment.

Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a quick recovery.

He stressed the importance of adherence to traffic rules, warning against overspeeding and the use of unfit vehicles.

The police assured the public that efforts are ongoing to identify all victims and notify their families, with further updates to be shared as investigations continue.
