The Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority has disclosed that the forthcoming Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project will significantly reduce transportation costs for residents once it becomes operational.
The Director General of the Authority, Engineer Inuwa Ibrahim, made this known during a stakeholders’ engagement and focus group discussion held at Kada Hive in Kaduna.
The session was organized to educate stakeholders, share updates on the BRT initiative, and gather public input on its implementation.
Engineer Inuwa explained that the BRT system is designed to ease traffic congestion, enhance safety and security, and improve the standard of living for the people of Kaduna State.
He recalled that two months ago, Governor Uba Sani launched over 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, which are expected to service Kaduna City, Zaria, and Kafanchan, as part of ongoing efforts to reform the state’s transportation system.
He urged participants to share the knowledge gained during the session with their respective communities to ensure broad support and participation in the project’s success.
In his contribution, the Team Leader of Rebel Artic Joint Venture, Ted Regino, said his firm is overseeing the supervision of contractors on the project.
He assured that the BRT project would be completed before twenty twenty seven.

In her remarks, the President of Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa, Hajiya Rabi Saulawa, commended the initiative, noting that the BRT project would go a long way in easing the transportation burden—especially for women who frequently travel to hospitals, markets, workplaces, and schools.
Some participants stressed the importance of ensuring proper maintenance, project sustainability, and addressing potential issues such as ticket racketeering.
The forum attracted participants from the transport sector, religious and traditional institutions, media, and civil society.
