The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at uplifting and empowering the youth across the state.

She made this known while delivering her address during the final football match between Flamingo FC and 42 Lions FC, held in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, explained that the football match was organized in her honor and stressed the need for all stakeholders to harness the power of sports to promote peace, health, and opportunities for young people across the state.

“It is my pleasure to be part of numerous initiatives that promote peace, unity, and development in Zamfara State. One such initiative is today’s match between Flamingo FC and 42 Lions FC,” she said.

According to her, the football match represents more than just a contest of skill and strength, but a symbol of the collective dream of a peaceful, united, and prosperous Zamfara State.

“Let us remember that football is not merely a game , it is a bridge to understanding, a tool for healing, and a powerful platform for unity. That is why this competition, organized by our visionary Zamfara Youth Football Promoters, is so significant.”

She commended every player, organizer, coach, and fan for their efforts in making the event a success.

“To our youths, you are not only the future, you are the present. Let this match inspire you to channel your energy into building, not breaking; uniting, not dividing,”

“As we cheer for our teams today, may we also cheer for peace, for unity, and for a Zamfara where every youth has a chance to thrive. May the best team win, and may Zamfara win even more through peace and unity.”

The First Lady expressed gratitude to the Zamfara Youth Football Promoters for organizing the event in her honor.

“I am deeply touched and will always treasure this gesture of love and respect. You have shown that the strength of our state lies in the unity and passion of its youth,”

Hajiya Huriyya also extended warm congratulations to both teams for their discipline, courage, and excellent performance on the field.

“You have inspired not only your fans but all of us watching. Whether you lifted the trophy or not, you have all won our admiration.”

As part of her support, she donated N300,000 to the winning team, N250,000 to the runners-up, and an additional N300,000 to the organizers of the tournament.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Gusau Local Government, Hon. Abubakar Imam, praised the Governor’s wife for her various humanitarian efforts, especially in supporting the less privileged in society.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Zamfara Youth Football Promoters, Buhari Namana, appealed to the state government to create more game fields across Zamfara to encourage greater youth participation in sports.

FC Flamingo finally won the match after penalty shootout at the end of the game.
