Jigawa State government says it has approved over 279 million naira to the state branch of the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW for empowerment program.
The State Commissioner of Environment, Renewable energy and climate change Dr Nura Ibrahim announced this while briefing Newsmen after the council meeting chaired by Governor Umar Namadi held at the government house Dutse.
He explained that the amount will be used to procure sixteen Sharon buses and twenty number of Golf Volkswagen for distribution to thirty six members of the union as empowerment package.
He further explained that, the council resolved to release another over 431 million naira as grant to fifty eight small and medium entrepreneurs in the state.
Dr Nura Ibrahim therefore said this bring the total number of eighty four Small and medium enterprises supported with eighty nine million and eight hundred thousand naira.
The Commissioner added that, additional seventeen applications of more than nineteen million naira are on the process.
