Zamfara State House of Assembly has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Dauda Lawal, in recognition of his remarkable achievements across various socio-economic sectors within his two years in office.

The resolution followed a motion moved during plenary by the House Majority Leader, Bello Muhammad Mazawaje, who called on members to acknowledge the governor’s exceptional performance and support his ongoing development agenda.

In his presentation, Mazawaje highlighted the governor’s achievements in key areas including security, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and social welfare.

He noted that the governor’s efforts have positively impacted all parts of the state and called for continued legislative support to sustain the developmental gains.

The motion was seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Adamu Aliyu Gummi, who described Governor Dauda Lawal as a visionary leader whose administration has restored public confidence in governance.

He lauded the “Rescue Mission” initiative and emphasized the need to encourage the governor to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Zamfara State.

Other lawmakers who spoke in support of the motion included Yakubu Almajir (Bungudu East), Ibrahim Liman (Gusau II), Lirwanu Marafa Nagambo (Anka), Minority Whip Nura Dahiru Dan-Ali (Birnin Magaji), Hamisu A. Faru (Bukkuyum), and Shamsu Hass.

They cited impactful projects executed in their respective constituencies, such as Security interventions; Massive educational and healthcare infrastructure upgrades; Agricultural support initiatives; Construction of roads and the Zamfara Cargo International Airport; Urban renewal projects revitalizing the state capital.

The lawmakers also acknowledged the governor’s commitment to rebuilding general hospitals, strengthening traditional institutions, and enhancing socio-economic development across the state.

In addition to the vote of confidence, the House received and adopted two key committee reports which include
Report on the Bill to Amend the Zamfara State Persons with Disabilities Law No. 5, 2022 Submitted by Yakubu Almajir, Chairman, House Committee on Social Welfare.

Report on the Bill to Repeal and Re-Enact the Zamfara State College of Agriculture and Animal Science Law, 2000 – Presented by Hon. Mustapha Usman, Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture

The two separate bills were given third and final readings respectively by Clerk to the House Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu.

Both bills were passed at third reading and have been forwarded to the Executive Governor for assent.
