The Governing Council of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS), Zamfara State, has approved the appointment of Hajiya Nafisa Barau Suleiman as the 3rd substantive Registrar of the institution.

A statement by the Head of the Media and Communications Committee of the University, Dr. Linus Akor, said the appointment was ratified during the Council’s 29th meeting, held from April 22 to 25, 2025, in Abuja.

According to the statement, Hajiya Nafisa Barau Suleiman, who holds an M.A. in English Language from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), becomes the first female Registrar in the 12-year history of the university.

Before her appointment, Hajiya Nafisa had been acting as Registrar following the completion of the tenure of the former Registrar, Malam Yakubu Anivbassa, on February 4, 2025.

She previously served as Deputy Registrar in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, overseeing the administrative and related activities of the office.

She also served as Faculty Officer for the former Faculty of Humanities and Education before it was split into two. Additionally, Hajiya Nafisa represents the University Convocation on the current Governing Council.

The statement further highlights that the new Registrar had earlier held key administrative positions, including Senior Staff Officer (Establishment Division) and Head of the Staff Development Office.

The University Management expressed confidence that Hajiya Nafisa’s extensive administrative experience would significantly contribute to the effective running of the Registry and wished her Allah’s guidance and support in her new role.
