Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commiserated with the National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya and the immediate family of Pa Jola Ogunlusi, the first appointed National Secretary of the Union over his death.

In a condolence message issued on behalf of the Union, the Council Secretary, Comrade Usman Chiji described the death of Pa Ogunlusi as a colossal loss not only to the family but entire practicing journalists in the Country.

Comrade Usman Chiji noted with nostalgia, the giant strides made by late Pa Ogunlusi in establishing a functional Secretariat, which is the symbol and rallying point of all the practitioners.

The statement however explains that, efforts of Pa Jola Ogunlusi to establish a functional Secretariat from the scratch was a clear demonstration of his belief and commitment to the growth and development of Journalism in Nigeria and beyond.

Niger Council of NUJ also described Pa Ogunlusi as a dedicated Journalist who worked tirelessly to see that, NUJ is ranked among the highly respected and recognized professional Unions in Nigeria.

Similarly he said, the deceased trained many young Nigerian Journalists who are now managing the affairs of reputable electronic and Print media Organizations successfully.

The statement urges the present generation of Journalists to uphold the virtues of Pa Ogunlusi stressing that, the only way to immortalize him is to continue with his legacy and mission of one united NUJ irrespective of tribe or religious affiliation.

The Niger Council of NUJ then prayed that, God grant Pa Ogunlusi eternal rest and the family, friends and associates, the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The statement also adds that a condolence register is opened at the state council secretariat, IBB Pen house Minna, for those who want to send their condolences, as directed by the National Secretariat of the union.
