Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr Mohammed Bulama, has reaffirmed Radio Nigeria’s commitment as a strategic partner to the Chinese Embassy in strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and China.
He stated this at the International Chinese Language Day 2025, held at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja.
Represented by Acting Director in the Office of the Director General, Mallam Suleiman Musa, Dr Bulama emphasised the enduring collaboration between FRCN and the Chinese government, particularly in promoting cultural exchange and mutual development.
He highlighted laudable role played by China as the industrial capital of the world, noting that many Nigerians rely on China for trade, investment, and business.
According to him, Radio Nigeria recognises China’s importance in Nigeria’s national development journey.
Dr Bulama also noted that Radio Nigeria is the only broadcaster in the country airing content in over 20 local languages, in line with its mission to uplift the nation and unite the people through inclusive programming.
He revealed that FRCN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chinese Media Group during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to China in September 2024, focusing on content exchange and media expertise.
Mr Liu Zhanping, Deputy Director of the China Cultural Centre, described the International Chinese Language Day as a global celebration of Chinese linguistic and cultural heritage, calling the language a vessel of ancient wisdom and artistic expression.
