The Plateau State Government has banned all forms of night Grazing across the State.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang announced the ban during a Statewide Broadcast following the recurring spate of attacks in the State.
Th Governor also placed a ban on transportation of cattle after 7pm and suspended the movement of motorcycles across the State from 7pm to 6am till further notice.
The Governor who expressed sadness over the devastation mitted on the State in the last one month described such acts as unacceptable.
Mutfwang noted that, the State Government would not fold its hands and watch people destabilize the already fragile peace being enjoyed in the State.
The Governor called on Traditional Rulers to reactivate the operations of vigilante groups in addition to coordinating with security agencies to organize night patrols to protect communities.
He also mandated the newly constituted Inter-Religious Council to widely consult with stakeholders towards finding deeper lasting solutions to issues regarding the security challenge while a Fact-finding Committee will be constituted to unravel the root causes of the problem.
Mutfwang however noted that despite these ungodly acts, the Plateau spirit can never be broken as the Government was determined to ensuring protection of life and property of all residents as enshrined in the constitution.
He appealed to people in the state to desist from acts of retaliation assuring that the Federal and State Governments are synergizing towards arresting perpetrators of the barbaric acts.
