Katsina State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspected car thieves, rejected a ₦1,000,000 (one million naira) bribe, and recovered a suspected stolen vehicle along with other exhibits.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu stated this in a statement issued to newsmen in Katsina, the state capital.

According to the statement, while on a routine patrol near Birnin Kuka village in Mashi LGA, Katsina State, officers attached to Border Patrol Zone 4, Katsina, flagged down a green Toyota Corolla LE driven by Mubarak Kabir and Adamu Hashim, both from Kurna in Fagge LGA, Kano State.

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the vehicle in question was reportedly stolen from Abuja.

The suspects allegedly offered a bribe of one million naira in cash to the patrol team in an attempt to evade justice, an offer the officers firmly rejected.

The statement further added that a suspected stolen vehicle, the cash sum of one million naira, three mobile phones, one power bank, and a bunch of keys were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in criminal activities, with further developments to be communicated as the investigation progresses.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, commended the officers’ commitment to upholding the law and exhibiting a high level of integrity.

He further reaffirms the commitment and dedication of the Command towards protecting the lives and properties of the citizens of Katsina State and the country at large and maintaining a high level of integrity and respect for human rights.
