Governor Uba Sani has approved a new digital compensation management system for the Kaduna Geographic Information Service KADGIS, aimed at curbing corruption in land compensation processes across the state.
The Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, disclosed this while receiving members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Radio Nigeria Kaduna FRCN Chapel, at his office in Kaduna.

Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim explained that the software would capture the biometrics of the original landowners to be compensated such as thumbprints and NIN thereby preventing fraudsters from claiming land that does not belong to them.
The Director General used the visit to highlight major reforms implemented under his leadership since assuming office.
He said that, in the last two years, KADGIS has resolved over 700 land dispute cases and introduced a 20% discount policy for the advance payment of outstanding bills, which has significantly improved revenue generation and service delivery.
Dr. Bashir Garba confirmed that the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) now undergoes a fast-tracked process and can be issued within 24 hours once all requirements are met, with over 200 certificates processed weekly.
In response, the NUJ FRCN Kaduna Chairman, Umar Adamu S. Fada, applauded the Director General and the entire staff of the service for the comprehensive reforms, particularly the compensation software and the swift issuance of Certificates of Occupancy.
He welcomed the idea of the partnership and expressed the union’s willingness to collaborate with the service PR unit for effective communication.
The FRCN Chapel then offered to support the Service to leverage on their station’s programs to engage with the public more directly to provide more information and clarity on land matters in state.
