The Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, Kaduna State wing, has appealed for calm and patience among primary school teachers in the state regarding the delay in the payment of their February salaries by the government.
In a statement, the Assistant Secretary General of the union, Ayuba Adamu Kaltungo, says the delay was due to a directive requiring local governments across the country to open a direct account with the CBN for the full implementation of their autonomy.
While appealing to the teachers to remain calm, the statement assures them that the union is working tirelessly to ensure the issue is resolved soon.
The NUT expressed sincere concern over the inconveniences caused by the delay in salary payments, stressing that the State Government has taken steps to ensure that the outstanding salaries are settled within the week.
The statement commended the Kaduna State Government for its commitment to clearing the delayed salaries and expressed hope that the payment would be completed within the week.
