A former National Assembly member who represented Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, has reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing speculation about his defection from the party.
Speaking on behalf of the former lawmaker during a press briefing in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, the Chairman of his political group, Alhaji Sirajo Garba Maikatako, stated that Senator Marafa remains a dedicated member of the APC and has no plans to leave.
Alhaji Sirajo Maikatako emphasized that Senator Marafa is one of the founding fathers of the APC and served as Zamfara Central Senator from 2011 to 2019.
He also played a key role in the 2023 presidential election as the Zamfara State Coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council.
Addressing recent rumors suggesting Marafa’s possible exit from the party, Maikatako noted that, such speculation has sparked reactions among politicians in Zamfara State and beyond.
Maikatako, assured that Senator Garba Marafa would not leave the APC, regardless of internal challenges or disagreements, emphasizing that, their faction remains committed to protecting their integrity and rights.
He also assured party members and supporters that Marafa remains steadfast in his loyalty to the APC.
Regarding reconciliation efforts within the APC in Zamfara State, Alhaji Garba Maikatako stated that, Senator Marafa is open to genuine dialogue and sincerity aimed at strengthening the party.
On the reports of a new reconciliation committee being sent to Senator Marafa’s, Maikatako described them as speculation he had only heard in passing.
According to him, reconciliation is a positive step but not as from previous one, acknowledged that, Marafa has learned from past failed reconciliation attempts.
Meanwhile, Maikatako used the occasion to announce on how Senator Marafa’s support the less privileged people among others through his annual Ramadan Welfare Package.
He also expressed appreciation to journalists for their efforts in publicizing Marafa’s activities for the benefit of the people of Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.
