Public officials have been advised to avoid unnecessary distractions that could affect their performance and integrity.

Retired workers from FRCN and NTA Kaduna gave this advice in response to reports that PTAD Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, received an award from the President of the Council, Certified Pension Institution of Nigeria.

They described such an award as premature and sycophantic, arguing that the Executive Secretary had yet to justify the recognition, given the ongoing complaints about the non-payment of accumulated arrears.

One of the pensioners, Alhaji Salisu Yahya, stressed the need for the directorate to emulate PENCOM, which has begun settling benefits for retired workers in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive.

Alhaji Salisu Yahya was dismayed that PTAD was using bureaucracy to delay payments of the arrears for ulterior motives and called for transparency and accountability in the exercise to achieve desired objectives.
