Federal Government has given two weeks ultimatum to contractor handling Road construction from Sokoto, Zamfara to Kaduna states to adhere strictly to contract agreements or the contract would be revoked.
Minister of Works, Engineer David Nweze Umahi gave the warning in Sokoto while on a working visit to Sokoto and Kebbi States.
The Minister noted that the FG awarded dual carriage way contract from Sokoto, Zamfara to Kaduna to replace the existing single line in a bid to alleviate the plight of people using the road.
He explained that the contractor failed to maintained the existing pavements which was part of the contract agreement.
Umahi stressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given directives that FG would not compromised on quality work on all contracts awarded for sustainable development.
The minister said the works Ministry has put modalities in place with a view to ensuring quality assurance on all contracts.
According to him, the Ministry had provided mechanism in place towards repositioning the Ministry for effective service delivery.
Also speaking, the North West Senior Special Assistant to the President on Communities Development, Abdullahi Yakasai said through the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the North West have benefited a lot from contracts aimed at Communities development.
He sighted that the FG is constructing the Illaila to Badagry dual carriage road and Sokoto, Zamfara to Kaduna as well as other infrastructural development works aimed at ensuring socio security and economic development of people in the area.
Yakasai advised state governments and the public in the North West to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enable him continue with the good work.
In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto state represented by his deputy, Idris Muhammad Gobir expressed his gratitude and pledged his continued support to all FG projects and programs that have direct bearing to the development of the State.
