The National Council of Women’s Societies in collaboration with NAWOJ have organized mentorship for over two hundred women and girls’ in Kaduna as part of activities marking this year’s international women’s day.
Speaking to news men, the President of the society, Kaduna North Council, Hajiya Amina Lawal explained that the future of Nigeria belongs to the resilient women, hence the need to mentor more women to follow the part way to success.
According to her, Nigerian women have been through a lot, going by barrier placed on women in the society.
She Stressed that despite the limitations, women have reached commendable heights that needs to be celebrated particularly on this year’s International Women’s Day marking the Beijing declaration.
Hajiya Amina Lawal called on women to continue to thrive, learn and unlearn to be able to reach the desired results.
In a remark one of the mentors Samira Farida salute the courage and steadfastness of Nigeria women especially in the midst of current challenges.
She urged women to focus on developing themselves stressing there are more opportunities for women both within and outside the country that are yet to be discovered.
Hajia Samira maintained that Government at all levels to give more opportunities to women to contribute in building a better Nigeria.
Speaking at the event Kaduna State Acting Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Sahura Jibrin pointed out that women journalists would continue to play it’s advocacy role through its reportage towards bringing the achievements of women to a limelight.
According to her, Nigeria has more women with endowed potentials that are yet to be tapped, and called on all relevant stakeholders to engage and support women.
On his part, the President of Students Union Government, SUG Kaduna Polytechnic, Kadpoly Comrade, Usman Ashir expressed joy for the opportunity giving to the students to get free mentorship on the occasion of the international women’s day.
He said the students have gained knowledge from the success stories and motivation of the women mentors as well as networking.
The mentorship program which had students of Kaduna state University and Polytechnic was held in the areas of agriculture, medical sciences, finance, business and entrepreneurship, creative arts and travel and tourism.
