Some leading organizations across Kaduna State came together in solidarity for this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations.
The event, held at the Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa Secretariat in Kaduna, had the theme: “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment” with the event’s call to action being “Accelerate Action.”
A statement by Sa’adatu Hamma of the Multi-Door Courthouse, Kaduna, on behalf of the International Women’s Day 2025 collaboration partners, indicated that the event featured advocacy sessions, legal awareness programs, and discussions on gender-sensitive policies aimed at enhancing women’s access to justice, financial independence, and leadership opportunities.
According to the statement, the event highlighted the collective commitment to advancing gender equality, legal awareness, and economic empowerment through collaboration and advocacy.
The statement maintains that the Legal Awareness & Access to Justice session addressed key issues, where experts from the legal and dispute resolution sectors educated women on their rights and the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in resolving matrimonial, inheritance, and workplace conflicts.
It further noted that economic empowerment through business and entrepreneurship, media advocacy, community engagement with the grassroots, and the power of partnerships were the key focus areas of the International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration.
The statement also highlighted that each partner contributed unique expertise, resources, and advocacy efforts, ensuring that the message of empowerment reached diverse communities.
At the IWD event, the coalition aims to expand its efforts in: Women-centered Alternative Dispute Resolution programs to promote peaceful dispute resolution, Capacity-building workshops to enhance legal and financial literacy, Community-driven initiatives that empower women at the grassroots level.
The statement stressed that the success of International Women’s Day this year in Kaduna serves as a stepping stone for more impactful projects and the signing of the One Voice Declaration reaffirmed the commitment of all partners to continued collaboration beyond IWD 2025.
It adds that the partner organizations remain committed to working together to drive sustainable change, empower women, and build a more just and equitable society.
The coalition of organizations that made this year’s International Women’s Day celebration in Kaduna memorable includes the following: Kaduna Multi-Door Courthouse (KDMDC) ADR Center, Federación Internacional de Abogadas (FIDA), Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa, Women Entrepreneurs Development Forum (WEDF), League of Women Voters of Nigeria (NILOWV), and the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
Others include United Women Development Integrated Initiative (UWIDI), WOOFAR, The Beacon, KUNAK Foundation, HVC, Kaduna Media Forum Cooperative Society, KASU FM, A Unified Call for Change, among others.
