Jigawa State Government has disengaged Diya Sweets, the main vendor for the Guri Local Government Area Ramadan Feeding Programme, over alleged unethical practices involving the illegal deduction of funds meant for sub-vendors.

In statement, the Commissioner of Special Duties, Auwal D. Sankara disclosed that Diya Sweets unlawfully deducted ₦72,000 from the ₦672,000 initially allocated for three days of sub-vendor payments.

Despite multiple warnings and opportunities to rectify the issue, the vendor reportedly failed to comply, leading to the decision to terminate their involvement in the programme.

The government has demanded the immediate return of the withheld funds to the rightful sub-vendors, warning that failure to do so will result in legal action against the company.

Furthermore, Diya Sweets has been directed to submit all documents and materials related to the Ramadan Feeding Programme without delay.

The Commissioner emphasized the state’s commitment to transparency and accountability, assuring that measures are in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

He called for public cooperation and support in ensuring that government initiatives benefit the people as intended and that the integrity of the administration is upheld.

The statement emphasises that the Jigawa State Government reaffirmed its dedication to running a fair and corruption-free Ramadan Feeding Programme for the welfare of its citizens.
