Malam Madori Local Government Council in Jigawa State has threatened to sanction teachers for absenteeism in schools across the area.

The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Salisu Sani Garun-Gabas, stated this in an interview with newsmen after disbursing fifty thousand naira as scholarship assistance to twenty-five students in the area.

According to him, a baseline survey conducted after he assumed office revealed that teachers in several schools rarely attend classes.

This he said, was amongst the reasons for deteriorating condition of education in the area, which needed urgent attention.

Alhaji Salisu Sani Garun-Gabas pointed out that, “Education is key in every sphere of human life, so we will not relent in sanctioning any teacher that doesn’t attend school”.

He noted that, there are several unemployed graduates looking for jobs that they can engage if the employed ones are abusing the opportunity given to them.

The Chairman further adviced youths in the area, to dedicate themselves to obtain quality education, in order to cope with the future trends.

He added that, The local government under his administration will continue to offer support to education, in order to breed an educated future generation.
