The Kano State government (KNSG) in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), has organized a three-day capacity-building workshop for information officers.
The workshop aims to equip Information Officers with modern communication skills, focusing on innovative approaches to enhance public communication in a digital age.
Declaring the workshop open, the Kano state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to professionalism in public communication.
He emphasized the importance of digital tools, social media engagement, and data-driven communication in ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination.

Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya also highlighted the crucial role of Information Officers in shaping public perception, ensuring transparency, and maintaining public trust.
The Commissioner commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for approving and funding the training, noting that the administration prioritizes human capital development as a pillar of good governance.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Adamu Bala Muhammad, encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity and apply the knowledge gained to improve government communication and service delivery.
The Kano State Chairman of the NIPR, Aliyu Yusuf, commended the state government for sponsoring the workshop and for its willingness to register all Information Officers with the NIPR.
Radio Nigeria reports that, the workshop features expert facilitators from the NIPR, who will empower participants to become more strategic and efficient in their duties.
